Family-Based Immigration Services We Handle for Dallas Families

Keeping your family together, safe, and thriving in Dallas is at the heart of what we do. Our Dallas family immigration lawyers are here so that every loved one can look forward to a full, secure life in the DFW metroplex. Below are some of the legal services our immigration lawyers in Dallas, TX, offer:

Marriage Green Cards & Visas (Including Same-Sex Marriage Green Cards)

Bringing your spouse to Dallas isn’t just about completing paperwork; it’s building your future together, no matter your gender or background. We help you sponsor your spouse (as a U.S. citizen or someone with permanent residence), manage the entire visa process (I-130 petitions, adjustment of status, or consular processing), and handle key steps, such as filing an I-751 to lift conditions after two years.

We’ll be by your side at every step, so you’ll know exactly how marriage interviews work here at the Dallas USCIS Field Office.

Family Petitions and Reunification With Immediate Relatives (Parents, Children, Siblings)

U.S. immigration law separates family-based immigrant visa petitions into two primary groups: immediate relatives and family preference categories. Each classification of family-based immigration has its own eligibility standards, numerical limits, and government processing times. U.S. citizens aged 21 or older can sponsor a parent for a green card, and there are no annual caps on this category. Sponsoring a sibling is possible only for U.S. citizens, and this category has some of the longest wait times, often exceeding a decade.

Our qualified immigration attorneys file and track I-130 petitions and priority dates for adult children and siblings through visa preference systems. Our team stays in contact with the Dallas USCIS, so you always know where your case stands.

Immigration Options After Separation/Divorce From a U.S. Citizen or Someone With Permanent Residency

Ending a marriage doesn’t have to mean losing your dreams of living safely and legally in Dallas. Our Dallas immigration attorneys fight for your independence if you need to remove conditions after divorce (Filing I-751 waivers), and we help survivors of abuse file VAWA self-petitions confidentially.

We will explain your available options to protect your green card or fix your legal immigration status while separated. Our Dallas legal team guides you through divorce and immigration hurdles together, step by step, so you can focus on healing and stability for your new life.

Adjustment of Status – Gain Lawful Permanent Resident Status

Our team helps qualifying spouses, parents, and other family-preference beneficiaries adjust status at home without leaving the U.S. You’ll receive one-on-one preparation for Form I-485, biometrics, and interviews at the Dallas Field Office. We’ll also help you handle work and travel authorizations (EAD and advance parole) in the meantime.

You should feel confident throughout the green card process, knowing that our local immigration lawyers address concerns and guide you at every Dallas interview and requirement, always making your future the top priority.

Consular Processing

When your loved one is abroad, you don’t have to navigate their immigrant visa and consular processing alone. We break down the National Visa Center (NVC) step requirements, prepare all required forms, and guide you in supporting relatives at U.S. embassies or consulates worldwide. Dallas sponsors count on us for a firm I-864 affidavit of support, plus a hands-on strategy for handling obstacles such as administrative delays or required waivers. We support Dallas families from the petition through approval.

Spouse Visas

Deciding between an immigrant spouse visa (CR-1 or IR-1) and other options can be confusing. We clarify each visa’s pros and cons for spouses living abroad to help Dallas families choose a path that lets you build your lives together faster and with less stress.

Family-Based VAWA Cases

No one should live in fear or danger to protect a green card. For spouses, children, or parents of mistreatment or domestic violence, we can help you with a VAWA self-petition. Through Form I-360, we help you secure lawful status while ensuring the entire application process remains confidential. We’re proud to connect Dallas VAWA survivors with trusted local safety resources and guarantee total confidentiality at every part of your case.

Family-Based U Visa Cases

If you’ve endured substantial harm from a qualifying crime in Dallas and have helped law enforcement, we help you apply for a U visa and, if eligible, lawful permanent residency. Family members hurt by the crime can often be added as well. From getting certifications with the Dallas police or Sheriff’s office to guiding you toward secure work and a brighter, more stable life, we advocate for you at every turn.

No matter what your immigration needs are, our team of Dallas immigration lawyers is here to provide legal assistance and comprehensive representation to help you move forward.

How The Family Immigration Process Works in Dallas, TX

Navigating family immigration matters can feel overwhelming, but with Alonso & Alonso on your side, the road to lawful status becomes clear and manageable. We’ll handle the complicated parts of immigration policies and procedures, communicate openly, and walk you through every step at your own pace.

Step 1: Free Evaluation and Strategy Session With a Top Immigration Lawyer in Dallas

We start with a personal meeting, either at our Dallas immigration law office (800 W Airport Fwy, Suite 410, Irving, TX 75062) or online, to understand your situation, concerns, and immigration goals. We review your eligibility, outline potential challenges, and examine every legal path available. You’ll always get an honest assessment, and we frequently find creative solutions that other professionals might overlook.

Our comprehensive evaluations help our clients make informed decisions about their immigration journey.

Organizing and reviewing documentation with an immigration attorney can reduce the possibility of delays and increase the likelihood of a favorable outcome.

At Alonso & Alonso, we take responsibility for building and filing your petition, ensuring every box is checked and the evidence is crystal-clear. For Dallas sponsors, we use the proper USCIS lockbox or mail-in system to ensure your case is filed correctly and routed to the appropriate processing center. Our legal precision minimizes errors and maximizes your family’s chances of approval.

Your paperwork ends up at the Texas Service Center or National Benefits Center. Our team tracks your case in real time, reviews Requests for Evidence (RFEs) quickly, and keeps you in the loop at every milestone and new development.

If your family member is already in the U.S., we file Form I-485 so they can become a permanent resident here in Dallas without leaving the U.S. For relatives who remain abroad, we navigate the National Visa Center and coordinate with the appropriate U.S. embassy for a seamless consular process.

Next, we help you schedule your fingerprinting at a Dallas-area Application Support Center and set up a required medical exam with a panel physician from our approved list. Our hands-on, experienced guidance reduces mistakes, so you don’t miss deadlines or create delays.

It’s important to dress professionally and arrive early for your visa interview to allow time for security procedures.

The interview with immigration officials (located at 8101 N. Stemmons Freeway) can feel intimidating for many immigrants, but we help you with every part of it. We thoroughly prepare you at our local office, explaining exactly which questions to expect, what supporting documents to have, and practicing any scenarios that might surprise you. We’ve helped thousands of Dallas families feel ready and succeed at their interviews.

A successful interview leads to official green card approval, mailed right to your Dallas home. We guide you through work authorization, securing a Social Security number, understanding travel rules, and creating a smooth future path to citizenship.

Each application process is unique and may involve additional waiting times due to background checks, document reviews, and varied consular procedures. Navigating the immigration process requires meticulous attention to detail and an understanding of evolving laws and regulations.

With Alonso & Alonso, you’re never alone at any point in the Dallas family immigration process. From personalized assessments to hands-on prep for USCIS specifics, our team is here so your family can move forward and live without fear.

Our Dream Team of Latino Family Immigration Attorneys Serving Dallas

Welcoming a new chapter for your family deserves a team that sees you for who you are, understands your immigration journey, and won’t let you get lost in red tape. At Alonso & Alonso, our Dallas team is guided by the real-life story of our founders, a difference you’ll feel in every interaction.

Founders: Vanessa and Chris Alonso

Vanessa Rae Alonso

I’m the daughter of Mexican immigrants. I grew up in El Paso, Texas, on the border—where I learned how complex it can be to identify as both American and Mexican at the same time.

I come from a humble family. My mom was a teenager when I was born, but we never lacked love or support. Family always came first.

Since I was a little girl, I dreamed of helping others and making a difference. In law school, during a visit to the camps where immigrants worked, I reconnected with my culture, my language, and my roots. That’s when I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to immigration law—to help people like my own family.

Helping Latinos resolve their immigration status became my passion. Today, I specialize in finding creative solutions for people who’ve been rejected elsewhere. My goal is to make sure my clients feel safe, have access to work, and can live the life they deserve in the United States.

Why does this matter to you, someone looking for legal help?

Because I’m Latina, and your story matters to me. I think of your family the way I think of mine. My mission is to help you find peace by providing the legal protection you and your loved ones need—so you can live without fear, knowing you are not alone in this country

Christopher Alonso

I’m Puerto Rican, raised in New York by my grandmother—the strongest woman I’ve ever known. She taught me the value of hard work and kindness. She was my role model, working tirelessly to give me a better life.

After losing her shortly after 9/11, I joined the Army to protect my country and honor her legacy. Military service shaped me—it taught me the importance of defending others.

After 19 years as a special agent, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer. That experience gave me unique tools to identify weaknesses in a case and turn them into strengths for my clients.

Today, I fight with everything I have to reduce or eliminate criminal charges and support immigration cases. In every case, I see a new opportunity to protect families with strength and commitment—just like I’ve always done, now through the law.

As a Latino, I deeply understand the challenges our community faces. I know what it feels like to be underestimated, and I’m committed to helping you build a better future. At Alonso & Alonso, we share that pride and that purpose.

We’re here to give you the best legal representation possible—because we know how much is at stake.

Fifteen years ago, Vanessa and Chris Alonso noticed a painful gap in the legal world – immigration attorneys who treated people as files and quotas, ignoring real human stories. As a Latino couple who has felt that struggle firsthand, they founded Alonso & Alonso to deliver firm legal results through the lens of family, respect, and fierce advocacy. Their devotion to Dallas’s Latino community shapes everything we do at the firm, from after-hours calls to celebrating every green card as if it were our own family’s victory.

Our Dream Team in Dallas-Fort Worth

When you work with us, you get more than an attorney. You get the support of culturally attuned, AILA-affiliated Latino lawyers, deeply rooted in Dallas, Fort Worth, Irving, Plano, and more. Every immigration attorney at our immigration law firm is bilingual and has real insights into immigrant life that corporate chains simply can’t offer.

Our years of combined family immigration focus mean we’ve already helped thousands like you reunite with families and move forward with their lives. When you work with us, you’re respected, protected, and believed in from day one.
