Lead Attorneys and Dream Team Leaders

Vanessa Rae Alonso

I’m the daughter of Mexican immigrants. I grew up in El Paso, Texas, on the border—where I learned how complex it can be to identify as both American and Mexican at the same time.

I come from a humble family. My mom was a teenager when I was born, but we never lacked love or support. Family always came first.

Since I was a little girl, I dreamed of helping others and making a difference. In law school, during a visit to the camps where immigrants worked, I reconnected with my culture, my language, and my roots. That’s when I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to immigration law—to help people like my own family.

Helping Latinos resolve their immigration status became my passion. Today, I specialize in finding creative solutions for people who’ve been rejected elsewhere. My goal is to make sure my clients feel safe, have access to work, and can live the life they deserve in the United States.

Why does this matter to you, someone looking for legal help?

Because I’m Latina, and your story matters to me. I think of your family the way I think of mine. My mission is to help you find peace by providing the legal protection you and your loved ones need—so you can live without fear, knowing you are not alone in this country

Christopher Alonso

I’m Puerto Rican, raised in New York by my grandmother—the strongest woman I’ve ever known. She taught me the value of hard work and kindness. She was my role model, working tirelessly to give me a better life.

After losing her shortly after 9/11, I joined the Army to protect my country and honor her legacy. Military service shaped me—it taught me the importance of defending others.

After 19 years as a special agent, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a lawyer. That experience gave me unique tools to identify weaknesses in a case and turn them into strengths for my clients.

Today, I fight with everything I have to reduce or eliminate criminal charges and support immigration cases. In every case, I see a new opportunity to protect families with strength and commitment—just like I’ve always done, now through the law.

As a Latino, I deeply understand the challenges our community faces. I know what it feels like to be underestimated, and I’m committed to helping you build a better future. At Alonso & Alonso, we share that pride and that purpose.

We’re here to give you the best legal representation possible—because we know how much is at stake.

MANAGING ATTORNEYS

Anna Lichtenberger

Anna Lichtenberger

Managing Attorney – Family-Based Immigration

Anna Lichtenberger was born and raised in a border-town community where immigrants were an integral part of daily life. Inspired by her father, a police officer, and her mother, who worked at a community health center dedicated to serving migrants and other underserved populations, Anna developed a deep commitment to service from an early age.

As a student, she volunteered at her mother’s clinic, reading to children and distributing books, later working her first job there. These early experiences solidified her passion for advocating for immigrant families and instilled in her a lifelong dedication to serving others.

During law school, Anna interned with a nonprofit focused on removal defense, where she assisted individuals detained in immigration centers. This experience further fueled her resolve to protect the rights of immigrant communities.

Anna began her career at Alonso & Alonso in the removal defense department, representing clients at hearings and preparing complex applications before the immigration court. She now serves as the Family-Based Managing Attorney, leading a skilled team of attorneys who handle family petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing, and humanitarian relief under VAWA. She also prepares and attends USCIS interviews with clients across the United States, ensuring they receive strong advocacy and support at every stage of the process. In her role, she is dedicated to providing exceptional service and fighting to keep families together.

Edwin Pleitez

Edwin Pleitez

Managing Attorney - Removal Attorneys

As a first-generation Hispanic immigration attorney, he brings both personal and professional dedication to every case he handles. Growing up in a family of immigrants, he experienced firsthand the challenges, sacrifices, and resilience that define the immigrant journey. Spanish is his first language, and his bilingual skills allow him to connect deeply with the community he serves.

His path in immigration law began long before he became an attorney. From 2016 to 2022, he worked as a paralegal, gaining extensive hands-on experience with complex cases and learning the importance of precision, empathy, and persistence in advocating for immigrants. During law school, he furthered his commitment by working as a legal clerk at Alonso and Alonso, where he developed his skills in legal writing, courtroom preparation, and client advocacy.

His dedication to this work is also deeply personal. He successfully helped my parents fix their immigration status and later represented multiple family members in immigration court. Those experiences shaped his understanding of how deeply immigration issues impact families, inspiring him to dedicate his career to this field.

Today, he not only represent individuals in removal proceedings and other complex immigration matters but also manages a team of dedicated attorneys who fight alongside him for the immigrant community. Their practice includes humanitarian visas such as T visas and U visas, ensuring that victims of crimes, trafficking, and abuse in the U.S. have access to legal protections and the chance to rebuild their lives with dignity.

Guided by a strong work ethic, compassion, and a personal understanding of the immigrant experience, he remains committed to protecting families, uplifting communities, and ensuring every client has a voice in their fight for justice.
